The effect of alkali on cellulose

Cellulose exhibits very high resistance to alkali, especially in sodium hydroxide at high temperatures. However, it can be said that cellulose is not vulnerable to strong alkali. Therefore, one of the important processes in the cellulosic industry is the cellulose alkalization process.

Cellulose molecular swelling is important not only in terms of its chemical properties, but also in terms of physical properties, and it is observed in certain microscopic images that cellulose has lost its natural state and the fibers are thicker and shorter. There is no doubt that cellulose absorbs profitable units, and since cellulose has three alcoholic components, depending on how they react in one or more positions, the products that are obtained are different.

Alkaline cellulose products can be analyzed in two ways:

(A) In the first case, the profit is used in excess of the cellulose: in this case, in addition to gaining profits, there may be an excess of excess cellulose fibers without making a cellulose bond.

B) In the latter case, the profit is to be applied to the required amount, which is, in fact, equivalent to that which is obtained with cellulose and obtains an appropriate alkaline cellulose.

The reaction between alkaline solution and cellulose is both a physical phenomenon and a chemical phenomenon. Its chemical formula is (C6H10O5) X. (NaOH) y.H2O [click and drag to move]. This compound is in fact the relationship between alkali and cellulose, the quality of the alkali cellulose depends on factors such as the nature of the cellulose, the swelling of the cellulose fiber, the reaction temperature, the concentration of alkalinity, the duration of contact with the cellulose fiber, the type of alkali.

The molecular characterization of cellulose in an alkaline solution was investigated by Masutoshi Sai. Molecular specification shows that cellulose fibers are weak against oxidation of alkaline earth metals, which causes alkalization of cellulose. Researchers such as Camid and colleagues found that resin cellulose had an alkaline property with a 8% solution and at 4 ° C.

The researchers analyzed the mechanism of cellulose alkalization in profit in a specific way. The parameters studied in the alkaline solution of the profit are its dependence on the reaction temperature and the concentration of profit. The dependence of the solubility of the pellet on alkalizing cellulose was also determined by light diffraction and viscosity measurements.

The cellulose alkalization reaction is to replace the profit instead of the hydroxyl hydrogen moiety, which ultimately forms the cellulose derivative. The ratio of this substitution is called the degree of substitution, which is described by the average number of three groups of hydroxyl units of the antidogglucose units that have reacted.
